NIH Ends ALL Medical Testing on Chimps
In November, the National Institutes of Health made the exciting decision to fully retire its last 50 medical research chimpanzees, effectively ending all their medical testing on chimpanzees. The decision comes on the heels of the decision to include captive chimpanzees on the endangered species list. The NIH will work with sanctuaries in the United States to find a permanent home for these newly retired chimpanzees.
