ESA Listing to include captive Chimps
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced in June that a decades-long fight to include captive chimpanzees in the endangered ranking under the Endangered Species Act had successfully ended. Prior to the ruling, wild chimpanzees were classified as “endangered” while captive chimpanzees were merely “threatened,” The new status for captive chimpanzees will make invasive medical testing on them now next to impossible.
