Jane has often said that to reach people you much reach the heart – and to do that, you must use stories. That’s why we’re SO EXCITED to be bringing you a brand-new podcast, Jane Goodall Hopecast. Dr. Jane Goodall blazed the trail and changed the world. Now, she’s studying new subjects – humans! This brand-new podcast will take listeners on a one-of–a-kind journey as they learn from Dr. Goodall’s extraordinary life, hear from changemaking guests from every arena, and become awed by a growing movement sparked by Jane and fueled by hope. Join us as we get curious, grow compassion and take action to build a better world for all.

Submit Your Recording For a Chance to Be Featured as a Hopecaster!

Here’s what to do:

You can record from any device and simply submit using the interface below along with your full name, email address, age, and location (country, city). Please keep all clips under 1 minute, and make sure to be in a quiet place close to your recording device. Share that you’re submitting on social media tagging @janegoodallinst #hopecast for a chance to be featured. See questions below!

Prompting Questions

  1. What do you believe will help stop environmental crises like climate change, biodiversity loss, and others? Sample responses:
    • “Younger generations are taking action.”
    • “I believe anyone can make a difference.”
    • “I believe in the power of the collective.”
  2. What would do you think your one-word role is in bettering this planet? Sample responses:

  3. What kind of change do you want to see in the world? Sample responses:

    • “Jane showed me that every individual can make a difference.”
    • “Dr. Goodall made me realize that there is no sharp line dividing us from other animals.”
    • “Jane Goodall never gives up and uses her voice to create change.”
  5. What action(s) do you take to improve wellbeing for people, other animals, and the natural world we share? Sample responses:

    • “I started a petition to my local city council to improve recycling.”

Ashley Sullivan

Ashley Sullivan is the Director of Storytelling & Marketing for Communications & Partnerships at the Jane Goodall Institute USA, where she works to connect individuals with Dr. Jane Goodall's vision, and the JGI mission to create a better world for all by protecting the interconnections between people, other animals, and the environment. Ashley graduated Stony Brook University with a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology and a minor in Biology, and is pursuing a Master's of Science in Environmental Science & Policy at Johns Hopkins University with a focus on Environmental Justice. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, now a D.C. resident, she has a varied background including 10+ years of expert communications and digital marketing in the social and environmental non-profit sector. Her intersectional approach to this work has been shaped by a holistic world-view, having traveled to Madagascar and Ecuador for conservation research projects, leading communications for youth social justice filmmaking organizations, and as a part of several professional groups advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in environmental spaces including Greens REALIGN. With skills ranging from conservation fieldwork, policy and advocacy campaigns, strategic communications, art, digital media, and design, Ashley believes in sharing information to empower and in the magic of storytelling to transform hearts and minds. Through growing understanding, empathy, and justice, she is igniting positive change to create that better, more equitable world, every day.
